Types of Diseases

February 8th, 2010 . by admin

There are quite a few types of diseases that can affect tomato plants.  Two of them, Alternaria and Septoria cause spots on the leaves and may occur together. Anthracnose is a type of disease that mostly affects ripened fruit, however it can damage the stems of the plant. Late blight and fruit rot are types of diseases that cause the tomatoes to rot on the vines. Bacterial canker, bacterial speck, and bacterial spot are other types of destructive diseases to tomato plants, with Baterial canker being the worse. Tomato mosic virus is yet another disease that can cause tomato plants to be destroyed. If the tomato plants should contact any one of these diseases they can be controlled with a tomato fungicide.
