Thomas Friedman’s latest column in the New York Times has raised some eyebrows, in which he said “One-party autocracy certainly has its drawbacks. But when it is led by a reasonably enlightened group of people, as China is today, it can also have great advantages.”

Many are questioning the wisdom of that statement.  China’s history of atrocities and human rights violations don’t make it favored country in the eyes of many in the left or the right. So a seemingly glowing and favorable accolade as such, has many bewildered, even enraged.  One blogger even created Fire Thomas Friedman, a blog with a fiery single post asking many to call for his job.
